1. Purpose

To ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive digital learning environment for all adult learners and staff participating in online education.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All adult learners, tutors, and administrative staff.
  • All digital platforms, devices, and communication tools used for learning.
  • All online learning activities, including live sessions, forums, and assessments.

3. Guiding Principles

  • Respect and Inclusion: Foster a respectful environment that values diversity and adult learning needs.
  • Digital Safety: Protect learners from online risks such as scams, cyberbullying, and misinformation.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: Comply with GDPR and other relevant data protection laws.
  • Empowerment through Education: Support learners in developing digital skills and confidence.

4. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Learners:
    • Use e-learning tools responsibly and respectfully.
    • Protect personal information and report any concerns.
    • Engage in learning with integrity and honesty.
  • Tutors:
    • Promote safe and respectful online behaviour.
    • Monitor online interactions and address inappropriate conduct.
    • Provide guidance on digital literacy and safety.
  • Administrators:
    • Ensure secure and accessible platforms.
    • Provide training and support for staff and learners.
    • Review and update safety protocols regularly.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

  • Use learning platforms for educational purposes only.
  • Do not share login credentials or access others’ accounts.
  • Avoid uploading or sharing offensive, illegal, or copyrighted content.
  • Communicate respectfully in all online interactions.

6. Online Conduct

  • Discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Constructive feedback and respectful disagreement are encouraged.
  • All participants must follow the centre’s code of conduct.

7. Security and Privacy

  • Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication where possible.
  • Keep software and devices updated.
  • Be cautious of phishing emails and suspicious links.

8. Reporting and Support

  • Concerns about safety, misconduct, or technical issues should be reported to the designated e-learning coordinator.
  • Confidentiality will be maintained, and appropriate support will be provided.

9. Training and Awareness

  • Regular workshops and resources will be offered on:

10. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to significant changes in technology, legislation, or learner needs.
